The  2nd Sir George Alleyne Lecture will be held at the Cave Hill Campus on April 24th.  The Lecture celebrates the work of the Chancellor of the University, who is Director Emeritus of PAHO / AHO, UN Special Envoy on HIV / AIDS and a former Professor of Medicine of the University of the West Indies.  Sir George is an alumnus of the UWI (MBBS 1957), and Honorary DSc of the UWI.  He was Director of PAHO / WHO from 1995 to 2002.

The lecture will be hosted by the School of Clinical Medicine and Research, UWI Cave Hill, and PAHO / WHO ‘s Office of the Caribbean Programme Coordinator.  It will be part of the programme of celebration of Forty Years of medical teaching at the School of Clinical Medicine and Research in Barbados.

This year’s lecture will be given by Sir Graeme Catto, MB (Hons), MD (Hons), DSc, Hon LID, FRCP, Hon FRCGP, FMedSci, FRSE.  Sir Graeme is the Chairman of the General Medical Council of the UK, and he is one of the most outstanding speakers and perhaps the most famous medical doctor in the UK today.

Sir George Alleyne will be in Barbados for the event.
